A decent salary for a family of 4?

Hi everybody,

I would like to know, please, how much a family of 4 (2 parents + 2 children: ~4 & 9 yrs) needs to live decently in the state of Florida (Port St Lucie area)

An idea on the following parameters on a monthly basis if it is possible

Housing

Transportation (car + gas)

School for the 9 yrs and the 4 yrs old

food

and so on

Well, with the housing market in your favor now...I could see a nice house at about $1500 - $1750 a month.

Food for a family of 4 should cost less than $500

Transportation could cost about $250

School for the 9 year old with lunches and supplies $75

School for the 4 year old - daycare - $650

utilities - $500

car - 1 car a few hundred, 2 cars about 6 or 7 hundred...

I'd say that you'd need maybe $5000 - $6000 a month if you don't have other debts to pay monthly...if you do add those on top of my estimate.

If you don't have other debts than you can even put some of the money away into savings...and put some money down on a house that would lower that payment.
