A dejected Chin Eei h*i leaves for Mulheim to participate in the German Open Grand Prix Gold
Malaysia’s Women’s Doubles top shuttler Chin Eei h*i, who is dejected because her father’s death, left for Mulheim yesterday to participate in the German Open Grand Prix Gold 2012, starting from today on February 28, in Germany.
Eei h*i’s deceased father, Steven Chin See Foon, died three days ago and she with the consultation and support of her family left for Germany in order to participate in the tournament for earning precious ranking points for Olympic Games.
She decided to compete in the German Open because she knew that her father would have wanted her to play with Wong Pei Tty in this tournament.
Eei h*i’s family supported her to take part in the event which will help her in securing a ticket to represent Malaysia in 2012 Olympic Games, which will start in London from the last week of July.
While talking about Eei h*i’s participation in the German Open, Kenny Goh, the general manager of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) said that the shuttler’s family supported her to compete in the tournament.
He said, “Eei h*i said that she had discussed the matter with her family and they had supported her decision to play on as she attempts to qualify for the Olympics.”
Eei h*i and Pei Tty have been placed at number 14 in the Women’s Doubles world standings. They have been struggling hard to win a major tournament for the last six months but could not manage it.
However, Eei h*i and Pei Tty are determined to remain in the top-16 positions in the world in order to qualify for Olympic Games as only top-16 pairs will be able to compete in the tournament.
In order to maintain their position, Eei h*i and Pei Tty need to play top class badminton in the upcoming tournaments including German Open, All England Open and Swiss Open, which will help them in getting precious ranking points.
At German Open, Eei h*i and Pei Tty have an easy opening round encounter
However, they will have a challenging fight in the Women’s Doubles second round of the event where they will be up against the Korea’s Jung Kyung Eun and Kim Ha Na, who are World Number 10 at the moment.
