  3. The Whigs- that particular sentiment predates both A & D, and B & C while common stances aren't officially political parties.

    Real Republicans stand for less government.  So if there are neoconservatives who stand for tyranny and oppression (which should come under the guise of fighting a foreign enemy, according to Mr. James Madison), I don't think you can use "Republican" as a blanket statement.
