The circuit record is held by the Spanish rider, Lorenzo, registered in the last 2011 season. He attained the record in 1 minute and 33.906 seconds with a top speed of 162.0 km/h.
The battle for championship is getting close between the Yamaha and Honda riders. The third contender Stoner is back to Australia for his ankle surgery after the crash he suffered during the qualifying round in Indianapolis.
The Australian rider has already missed the Czech Republic Grand Prix. His absence has highly affected the championship because the championship now revolves around the old rivals Pedrosa and Lorenzo.
Absence of Stoner in the Czech Republic GP has also widened his gap in the championship, which increased to 59 points from the championship leader, Lorenzo and 46 points from the runner up in the championship, Pedrosa, his teammate.
Last year Jorge Lorenzo won the Italian GP, completing the race in 44 minutes and 11.877 seconds. He edged his old Spanish rival with a gap of 7.299 seconds.
It is anticipated that the Italian GP will be even more interesting because of test session held at Brno. Teams have tested their rides and have introduced several modifications.
Another interesting story will be based upon Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing who will be fighting his luck at the Misano circuit. He has been unable to make it to the finish line in the last three grands prix he started, and retired due to different reasons.
Valentino Rossi of Ducati has faced a lot different opinions about his decision to join Yamaha in the next 2013 season. Gabriele Del Torchio of team Ducati has commented that Rossi has left him with some bitter feelings whereas Rossi is of the view that
he will try to focus on the remainder of the season. Andrea Dovizioso will be replacing Rossi in the following season.
The Italian GP will be interesting for many of the speculators but many eyes will be stuck on the fight for the first position between Rossi and Pedrosa as they finished the Brno Grand Prix with a very close gap of only 0.178 seconds. Fans will surely have
their fingers crossed as it is very hard to anticipate the winner of Italian GP prior to the race.
