A detailed analysis of MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi in the 2012 season so far – MotoGP Special
Valentino Rossi, currently riding for team Ducati, lies among the best riders, as he has proved himself as the world champion seven times until now.
However, in the current 2012 season he has been unable to give impressive performances before the summer break.
Out of the 10 races he has started, he could only make it to the podium once at the Dutch Grand Prix attaining second place in this season.
Rossi gave consistently improving performance in the very beginning of the season however, in the very first race of the season, he was not up to the mark at the Qatar Grand Prix. He finished at the 10th place after starting at 12th grid place. It was the
debut of Desmosedici GP 12 and he had some issues with his bike and the compounds he was using. In the following two grands prix he improved his performance by the finishing the Spanish Grand Prix at 9th place and the Portugal Grand Prix at 7th place.
Improvements with the bike proved to be successful, as the Italian was able to attain second place in the French Grand Prix. It was anticipated that he will return to his best but he could not. He could only attain a 7th place at the Spanish Grand Prix which
further dropped him to the worst performance of his career. During the Dutch GP, he could only finish at 13th place because he was struggling with his tyres.
At the German Grand Prix, he was able to make it at the 6th place after starting the race at 9th grid place. He further improved his results at the Italian Grand Prix finishing the race at 5th place.
Rossi had started giving impressive performance but he was unable to complete the United States Grand Prix because he had to face an incident and could not finish the race.
As far as his contract talks are concerned, he is going to make a return to Yamaha Factory Racing for the next 2013 MotoGP season as Ducati also confirmed that they will not seek a contract renewal with him.
Rossi has been able to show impressive performances in the season even though he had problems with the ride. It may be deduced that the deteriorating performances in the 2012 season were a result of hard luck. It can also be concluded that the poor performances
of Rossi have resulted in getting him separated from Ducati. A better luck may be waiting for him in Yamaha.
Currently he holds 8th place in the riders championship with 82 points. However, there is a close competition for the 5th, 6th and 7th places between him and Stefan Bradl of Honda and Nicky Hayden.
Last year he was only able to make it to the 7th place in the riders standings with 139 points. Let’s see how he fares in the upcoming Grand Prix.
