A detailed analysis of the performance of Red Bull Racing in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have been very good in the season but whether is it enough to defend their constructors’ and drivers’ titles remains to be seen.
Red Bull started the season at the backdrop of complete dominance during the 2011 season. The team accumulated twelve Grand Prix wins in the season.
Although it was Vettel who made the most of the equipment provided to him by Red Bull by claiming 11 wins in the season, but Webber was not bad either as he supported him teammate well.
Red Bull have looked to do bring that momentum in the current season as well but have found it hard as the season has transformed into a highly competitive ordeal.
FIA changed a few regulations for 2012 noticeably banning the off-throttle blown diffuser this has resulted in the difference between the teams closing and leaving little to separate them from each other.
Red Bull have done well in the season to remain on top of the constructors’ championship at the moment. Between Vettel and Webber, they have three Grand Prix wins while Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso also has three wins from the season.
Webber has looked stronger than Vettel so far in the season and it has been somewhat frustrating for the German as he has not been able to stamp the same level of authority he did last year.
They have 246 points in the season and the second placed McLaren have 193 points, while Lotus placed at third have 192 points. Ferrari are also in the hunt with 189 points so far in the season. It seems the battle is between these four teams in the second
phase of the season will start after the summer break.
Here is the table for the breakdown of Red Bull’s season so far.

It will be a fierce battle between the top four team of the current ranking. Red Bull have an advantage over other teams as they have the fastest car on the grid leaving for the summer break, and when they come back they will want to get as many points as
they can before other teams start to come up with their updates on the cars to compete.
