A detailed look at Adrian Sutil’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season
Force India-Mercedes driver Adrian Sutil ended the 2011 Formula 1 season with his better results after struggling throughout the season for his best possible finish in the championship.
Sutil finished 17 rounds of the season except 2011 Canadian and Italian Grand Prix, as he was retired from the both races. After the 19 races of the season, Sutil was placed at the ninth position behind Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher with 42 points in
the drivers’ standings.
The team driver seemed to make progress race-by-race throughout the championship fight. He tried his best to put the team in front of their rivals all the season.
With regards to the German’s performance in the season, he kicked off to average 2011 championship. He managed the first round of the season in the top ten positions. After starting the Australian GP from the 16th position on the grid, he ended up in the
ninth spot for the team.
After the Melbourne race, Sutil finished the next Malaysian race weekend at the 11th place after running in his VJM04 car.
The team driver was at the 15th position in the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix, while he came at the 13th place in the final Turkish Grand Prix classifications after starting from the 12th position at the Istanbul racetrack.
After the Turkish race, he again put the team at the 13th position in the next Spanish Grand Prix after running on the sets of soft and hard tyres by Pirelli.
Sutil bounced back on the grid in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix, where he performed in a very decent manner throughout the race weekend. He managed seventh position for the Force India team in order to challenge 2011 championship.
The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix was declared as unlucky for the Silverstone-based outfit driver, as he was unable to struggle in wet conditions and retired from the race.
After retiring from the Montreal race, Sutil successfully finished the next European Grand Prix in the first ten positions. He took ninth place for the team in the end of the race weekend.
He failed to score points for the team in the 2011 British Grand Prix, as his rivals were faster as compared to him. Sutil claimed sixth position for his team in the end of the German race weekend.
He pushed back to the field in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, as he managed 14th position for the team at there.
He was slotted at the seventh place for Force India in the end of the 2011 Belgian race weekend after starting from the 15th position.
He has been unsuccessful throughout the Italian race weekend. He retired from the race after completing 9 laps due to steering issue.
He came at the eighth position in the final 2011 Singapore race classifications after starting from the ninth place on the opening grid.
In the next couple of races held in Japan and Korea respectively, he took eleventh position in both races.
The last three rounds of the season have been positive for Sutil, as he put the team in the ninth spot at the end of the 2011 Indian Grand Prix and at the eighth place in the Abu Dhabi race weekend, while in recently held Brazilian Grand Prix, he ended up
at the sixth position.
After the 2011 F1 season, the team driver is hopeful of taking positive start to the 2012 year.
