A detailed look at Jenson Button’s performance throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season
McLaren driver Jenson Button finished the 2011 Formula 1 championship on the positive note for the Woking-based outfit.
Button managed his second position in the 2011 drivers’ championship with 270 points after taking part in 19 rounds of the season.
The team driver was seemed to be competitive on the grid in most of the part of the championship. Button successfully finished 17 rounds of the season except British and German Grand Prix, as he was retired from the races due to some technical issues in
his MP4-26 car.
The Brit tried his best to get better results from the season’s races and in the end he maintains his second position in standings by taking third position in recently held Brazilian Grand Prix.
With regards to Button’s performance all the season, he kicked off a disappointing 2011 F1 season after the successful winter test sessions. He was unable to perform well at the Australian racetrack and after struggling for the top three positions, he claimed
sixth position for the team in the end.
Following his below par start to the season, Button picked up the pace and managed his podium position in the second round of the championship in Malaysia.
He dropped down his position in the next Chinese race weekend, where he managed the fourth place for the McLaren-Mercedes team. He has been unlucky throughout the 2011 Turkish Grand Prix and he had the massive gap from the top runner of the race in the end.
He took sixth position for the team in the Turkish race weekend.
In the next Spanish Grand Prix, the 31-year-old driver turned to the podium and finished the race at the third position after starting from the fifth place on the opening grid.
He maintained his position in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix, while in the next Canadian race weekend he managed his first race win of the season. After starting the Canadian race from the seventh position on the grid he struggled a lot for his best possible
finish and claimed first position in the end.
The Canadian race win was the good achievement of Button in the season. He could not finish the European GP in the top three positions, as his rivals were faster as compared to him and he put the team at the sixth position in the end of the weekend.
After retiring from the British and German Grands Prix, he bounced back to his winning ways in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, where he managed his second race win of the season.
He was also good in the 2011 Belgian race weekend in terms of performance, as he finished the Grand Prix on the last stair of the podium.
The 2011 Italian and Singapore Grand Prix declared as positive for Button, as he managed the second position in both races.
McLaren driver, Button handled the fight of his third win of the season in the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix. He started the Japanese race from the second position and after running in his MP4-26 car, he ended up ahead of all drivers.
He came at the fourth position in the final Korean race classifications, while in the 2011 Indian Grand Prix he put the team in the second spot.
At the second last round of the season, the 2009 world champion scored decent points for the team after running at the Abu Dhabi racetrack.
After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he again finished the race at the third position in recently held Brazilian Grand Prix.
Now, the 2011 seasons end and the team driver, Button is looking forward to better 2012 year.
Button hopes his team will provide him more competitive car next year and he can take strong start to the 2012 Formula 1 season as well.
