A detailed look at Kamui Kobayashi’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season
Sauber-Ferrari driver Kamui Kobayashi finished the 2011 Formula 1 season at the 12th position after struggling a lot throughout the championship.
Kobayashi did not have good start to the season, but after the initial rounds, he seemed to make improvement in terms of performance.
The Japanese driver took part in 19 rounds of the season and successfully completed 15 races out of them.
Kobayashi ended up in the 12th place for the team with 30 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
He was disqualified from the first race of the season, as he was disqualified from the 2011 Australian Grand Prix due some technical issues in his car.
In the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix, the team Sauber driver took seventh position for the team after running on the sets of new Pirelli tyres.
In the next three races held in China, Turkey and Spain respectively, Kobayashi managed 10th position for the team in these rounds after running in his C30 car.
He impressed the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix by taking fifth position for the team Sauber in the end of the race. The team were very pleased with Kobayashi’s results in the Monte Carlo race weekend.
He tried to keep momentum of his better performance in the next Canadian Grand Prix, where he managed the seventh position for the team after struggling in wet conditions.
Kobayashi pushed back to the field in the European Grand Prix, as could not finish his race run in the top ten positions. He was slotted at the 16th position in the end of the race weekend.
He was retired from the 2011 British Grand Prix. The 25-year-old driver took ninth position in the end of the German race weekend.
The 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix was not so good for Kobayashi, as he finished the race at the 11th position after putting all of his efforts.
He was again in a poor form in the next Belgian race weekend, where he managed the 12th position for the team after starting from the same place on the grid.
He retired from the race for the second time in the season at the 2011 Italian Grand Prix.
The Hinwil-based outfit driver put the team at the 14th place in the end of the 2011 Singapore race weekend after starting from the 17th position at the Marina Bay street circuit.
He finished the Japanese Grand Prix at the 13th position, while in the Korean race weekend he came at the 15th place for the team Sauber.
He was unable to perform well in the 2011 Indian Grand Prix and retired from the race after starting from the 17th position at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit.
Kobayashi tried to cover his gap from the top ten runners in the Abu Dhabi race weekend. He also tried to put the team in front of their rivals after struggling in his C30 car.
In recently held Brazilian Grand Prix, he put the team at the ninth position and ended the season with a score of 30 points.
After the 2011 Formula 1 championship, Kobayashi are hoping to take strong start to the next season for the team.
