A detailed look at Lewis Hamilton’s show throughout the 2011 Formula 1 championship
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton finally finished the 2011 Formula 1 season in the top five positions for the team in the drivers’ standings after making a lot of mistakes throughout the year.
Hamilton took part in 19 rounds of the season and ended the championship at the fifth position with 227 points.
He had a lot of contacts with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa during the season. Despite of having collisions, the Brit struggled throughout the season for his best possible results in the end of the 2011 championship.
Hamilton managed one pole and three race wins all the season. He completed 16 rounds of the season except 2011 Canadian, Belgian and recently held Brazilian GP.
With regards to McLaren driver’s performance in the season, he kicked off to a good championship, as he finished the first round of the season in a very decent manner after running at the Australian circuit.
After starting from the second position on the opening grid, he managed the same position in the end of the Australian Grand Prix.
The 2008 world champion dropped down his position in the next Malaysian GP. He starting the race in a decent manner, but could not retain the position until the end of the race, as his rivals were faster as compared to him.
He took eighth position in the end of the Malaysian race weekend for McLaren.
Hamilton managed his first race win at the 2011 Chinese GP, where he started the race from the third position on the opening grid and after running in his MP4-26 car he came at the top position ahead of all drivers.
The Woking-based outfit driver put the team at the fourth position in the 2011 Turkish GP, while in the next Spanish Grand Prix he bounced back on the podium and managed second position for the team as well.
Hamilton put out his steps from the podium in the 2011 Monaco race weekend, where he finished the Grand Prix at the sixth position after running on the sets of Pirelli tyres.
After retiring from the Montreal race, the 26-year-old driver ended up in the fourth spot at the next two rounds including European and British GP respectively.
McLaren driver managed his second race victory of the season at the 2011 German Grand Prix. He again dropped to fourth position in the Hungarian GP and after that, he retired from the race at the Belgian Grand Prix.
He put the team at the fourth place in the end of the 2011 Italian race weekend. Hamilton ended up in the fifth spot in the next couple of races held in Singapore and Japan respectively.
The team driver backed to the podium in the 2011 Korean race weekend, where he managed the second position for the team after starting from the pole.
The Indian GP declared as unlucky for him, as he was unable to close his gap from the top runners. He came at the seventh position in the final Indian race classifications after running at the Buddh International Circuit.
Hamilton won the race for the third time in the season at the Yas Marina Circuit. After his wonderful achievement in Abu Dhabi, he retired from recently held Brazilian Grand Prix last weekend.
After the 2011 championship, the team are expecting decent performance from Hamilton in 2012.
