A detailed look at Mark Webber’s performance throughout the 2011 Formula 1 championship
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber ended the 2011 Formula 1 season in a very decent manner by achieving a race win in recently held Brazil Grand Prix.
Webber managed his first race win at Sao Paulo racetrack since the 2010 Hungarian Grand Prix. He had a wonderful win in recently held Brazil Grand Prix, where he started the race from the second position on the opening grid and after running in his RB7 car,
he came ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel in the final race classifications.
The Australian finished the 2011 championship with his decent performance, and therefore the team are expecting a very strong start from him to the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Webber did not have a good start to the current season, as he had Kinetic Energy Recovery System issue in the initial part of the championship battle.
Despite of having KERS problems, the team driver tried his best and put the team on a high note.
He struggled for his best possible position in the championship throughout the season despite of having several issues with the car and team.
With regards to the 35-year-old driver’s performance in the season, he managed three pole positions and one race win throughout the year.
He finished 18 rounds of the season by staying at the racetracks except Italian Grand Prix, where he retired from the race due to an accident.
Webber seemed to finish the races in the top five positions all the season. He came at the fifth position in the 2011 Australian Grand Prix, as his car’s KERS were unable to work properly during the race.
After that, he tried to cover the gap from the top three runners and ended the Malaysian Grand Prix in the fourth spot for the team.
The team driver managed his first podium place in the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix, which were his better results for Red Bull Racing.
He kept the momentum of his better performance in the next Turkish race weekend, where he managed the second position with a gap of 8.8 seconds from the race winner Vettel.
In the next couple of races, held in Spain and Monaco respectively, he ended up in the fourth spot for the Red Bull Racing team after running in his RB7 car.
On the other hand, the team had fixed KERS issues of Webber’s car.
The 2011 Canadian, European, British and German Grands Prix proved as lucky for Webber, as he managed these four races on the last stair of the podium for his best possible results in the championship.
In the Hungarian race weekend, he dropped down his position. After starting the race from the sixth position on the opening grid, he ended the Grand Prix at the fifth position.
He bounced back on the grid in the Belgian Grand Prix, where he managed a second position.
Webber managed third place in the 2011 Singapore race weekend, while in the Japanese Grand Prix he put out his steps from the podium and came at the fourth position in the final race classifications.
He had better results in the Korean GP, while in the India and Abu Dhabi races he has been failed to manage his podium position as his rivals were faster as compared to him.
Webber finished the 2011 F1 season at the third position ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso with 258 points in the drivers’ standings.
During the season, he also signed a new contract with Red Bull Racing team. However, he will take part in the next F1 season.
After getting better results from Webber in Brazil, the team hopes their driver will head into the winter test session with his strong performance and take positive start to the 2012 F1 season as well.
