A detailed look at Michael Schumacher’s performance throughout the 2011 Formula 1 championship
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher finished another Formula 1 season in 2011 after coming back to the sport from his three-year retirement.
After taking disappointing start to the 2011 championship battle, Schumacher ended the season positively.
The team driver has not been able to finish the single race on the podium throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season. He blamed the unsupportive role of his MGP-W02 car for his below par performance all the season.
The seven-time world champion finished the 2011 championship at the eighth position behind his teammate Nico Rosberg with 76 points in the drivers’ standings.
With regards to Schumacher’s 2011 F1 season, he successfully completed 14 rounds of the season and retired from the five races.
The German kicked off to an obnoxious 2011 season, as his car was unable to support him properly in the opening rounds of the championship. He was retired from the first round of the season held at the Australian racetrack due to the puncture damage.
After the getting inadequate results from the Australian race weekend, Schumacher tried his best and stayed at the racetrack until the end of the race at the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix.
He claimed ninth position in the end of the Sepang race, while in the next Chinese Grand Prix he came at the eighth place for the team in the final race classifications.
The 2011 Turkish Grand Prix was not declared as positive for Schumacher, because he has been unable to perform well throughout the race weekend and put the team at the 12th position in the end of the raceday.
He bounced back on the grid in the next Spanish Grand Prix, where he managed the sixth position in order to get better results in the end of the season.
The next Monaco Grand Prix also declared poor for the team driver, as he was retired from the race.
The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix was proved as lucky for Schumacher as he had a wonderful race day in wet conditions. He took fourth position in the end of the Montreal race.
The 42-year-old driver dropped down his position in the 2011 European Grand Prix, where he managed 17th position for the team. The race results were unsatisfactory for the team and driver.
After that, he successfully finished the British Grand Prix in the top ten positions. He claimed ninth place for the team after starting from the 13th position on the opening grid.
He started the German Grand Prix from the 10th position and after putting all of his efforts, he ended up in the eighth spot for the Petronas-sponsored team.
He was retired from the race for the third time in the season at the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix. After retiring from the Hungarian race, Schumacher returned back on his competitive form in the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix, where he finished the race at the fifth
position after starting from the back of the field.
He kept the momentum in the next Italian race weekend and again put the team at the fifth spot in the end of the Grand Prix.
The 2011 Singapore race results were disappointing for the team and Schumacher as he was unable to stay at the racetrack until the end of the Grand Prix.
He was slotted at the sixth position in the end of the Japanese Grand Prix, while in the Korean race weekend he retired from the Grand Prix.
In the 2011 Indian Grand Prix, he showed his better performance at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit and finished the race in the fifth spot as well.
He ended up at the seventh position in the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, while in recently Brazilian Grand Prix he failed to finish the race in a decent manner.
After getting the results from Schumacher, the team Mercedes are expecting competitive 2012 season from their driver.
They are working on their 2012 year’s car and making it competitive for the next season’s championship.
