A detailed look at Nico Rosberg’s performance throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg finished the 2011 Formula 1 season at the seventh position in the drivers’ standings after putting all of his efforts throughout the year.
Rosberg made a lot of struggle on the new Pirelli tyres and in his MGP-W02 car. The car was not supportive to him throughout the season and due to that he could not manage a single podium position for the team in order to challenge the season’s championship.
After taking the below par start to the 2011 championship battle, he was seemed to make progress race-by-race all the season.
The team driver had a very disappointing start to the season, as he was retired from the first round of the championship held at the Australian racetrack.
After retiring from the 2011 Australian GP, the German driver managed 12thposition in the next Malaysian race weekend for the team after running on the sets of new Pirelli tyres.
He bounced on the grid in the third round of the season held in China. Rosberg finished the race at the fifth position at Shanghai.
The team driver kept the momentum of his fifth position in the 2011 Turkish Grand Prix. Rosberg took seventh position in the end of the Spanish GP, while in the Monaco race weekend he came at the 11th place in the final Grand Prix classifications
after starting from the seventh place on the opening grid.
After getting disappointing results from the Monte Carlo race, Rosberg again put the team at the 11th position in the next Canadian Grand Prix, as he could not struggle in wet conditions.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver claimed seventh position in the end of the 2011 European Grand Prix after starting from the same place at the Valencia street circuit.
He successfully finished the race in the top ten positions after running at the Silverstone racetrack. Rosberg took sixth place in the end of the race weekend for Mercedes GP.
The 26-year-old driver ended up in the seventh spot in the 2011 German Grand Prix after struggling in his MGP-W02 car.
Rosberg put the team at the ninth position in the end of the 2011 Hungarian race weekend, while he came at the sixth place in the final Belgian race classifications.
The 2011 Italian GP declared as unlucky for the team drivers, as he retired from the race due to an accident.
After starting the Singapore GP from the seventh position, he claimed same position for the team in the end of the race.
He has been unable to perform well throughout the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix. He starting the race from the back of the field and after battling it out with their rivals he ended up in the tenth spot.
Mercedes driver was slotted in the eighth position in the end of the Korean Grand Prix.
In the next couple of races held in India and Abu Dhabi respectively, he completed his race runs at the sixth position in order to have better position in the end of the championship.
In recently held Brazilian GP, he started the race from the sixth position and after putting all of his efforts he finished the race at the seventh position.
Now, the season end and the team are looking to take better start to the 2012 F1 season. Mercedes team are working on their next year’s car and making it competitive for the upcoming season’s races.
