A detailed look at Sergio Perez’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 championship
Sauber driver Sergio Perez finished his first season in Formula 1 in a good manner for his career after struggling a lot in his C30 car and the new Pirelli tyres.
Perez made his debut in the sport at the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. He learnt a lot of things about the sport and car throughout the championship.
The Mexican ended the season at the 16th position with 14 points in the drivers’ standings.
The team driver had a good experience with the various compounds of tyres all the season. He was unable to take part in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix, as he suffered with an accident in Q3 of the Monte Carlo race weekend.
With regards to Perez’s performance in the season, he impressed the team and viewers by taking only single pit stop throughout the 2011 Australian Grand Prix, but in the end he was disqualified from race due to have some technical issues in his C30 car.
In the next Malaysian Grand Prix, he was retired from the race after starting from the 16th position at the Sepang racetrack.
After the disappointing first two rounds of the championship, Perez successfully finished the first race of the season at the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix. He took 17thposition for the team in the end of the race weekend.
He claimed 14th place for the team Sauber in the next Turkish Grand Prix after starting from the 15th place on the grid.
The youngest driver had a good race weekend in Spain, as he successfully managed the Grand Prix in the top ten positions. He was slotted in the ninth position for the team in the end of the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Spanish race results were quite impressive for the team, as he scored points for them at there.
He missed the Monaco Grand Prix, as he was injured due to an accident in Q3 of the race weekend.
He managed 11th place for the Hinwil-based outfit in the end of the 2011 European Grand Prix.
Perez had another great race weekend in the season at the British Grand Prix, where he managed seventh position for the team and scored decent points for them as well.
He dropped down his position in the next German race weekend. He started the race from the 15th position and after putting all of his efforts, he ended up in the 11th spot.
Perez put the team at the 15th position in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix.
The 21-year-old driver was retired from the next couple of races held in Belgian and Italy respectively.
The 2011 Singapore Grand Prix declared as positive for Perez, as he managed to score single point for the team after running at the Marina Bay street circuit.
The next Japanese Grand Prix was another competitive race weekend for Perez, because he managed decent points for the team Sauber at there.
He came at the 16th place in the final 2011 Korean Grand Prix classifications after starting from the 16th position on the grid.
Perez had great time in the 2011 Indian Grand Prix, as he finished his tenth position at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit in order to get better position in the end of the championship.
The team driver was at the 11th place in the end of the 2011 Abu Dhabi race, while in recently held Brazilian Grand Prix Perez came at the 13th place in the final race classifications.
He will take part for Sauber in the 2012 Formula 1 season.
