A detailed look at the Formula 1 team, Red Bull Racing – Part 2
After struggling for 4 years in Formula 1, Red Bull Racing lost one of its experienced drivers David Coulthard as the Brit decided to retire from the sport. As a result, the team decided to sign a new and young driver from their junior team Toro Rosso.
That driver was Sebastian Vettel who secured the 2010 Formula 1 championship for the team. The 2009 Formula 1 season therefore was a bright start for the team and as a result, the team started it with style as well.
With the introduction of another team BrawnGP which was headed by former Ferrari team principal Ross Brawn, it was more like a new start for Formula 1 as neither McLaren or Ferrari were able to challenge BrawnGP or RBR in 2009.
It seemed that the new teams also have a lot of capability and as a result, BrawnGP proved and secured the drivers’ and constructors’ standings in its very first season in the sport while Red Bull Racing gave them a very tough time throughout the season
before finishing in 2nd place with the help of 153.5 points.
Either way, the thing about RBR was that they had been consistent and that they were here to stay on top while BrawnGP which is now known as Mercedes GP was unable to keep the momentum.
Nevertheless, Sebastian Vettel gave Jenson Button a very tough time as well as Button won the championship with 95 points while Vettel scored 84 points to finish in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings.
The 2010 Formula 1 season however was an amazing run for the team as they were unable to score some good results in the beginning but later on, they kept winning and scored podiums once again.
This time, their rivals were not BrawnGP or some other new team. This time it was McLaren and Ferrari that were challenging for the championships alongside them which is a nightmare for a new team to begin with.
Since both of these teams have a legacy, competing against them and their top drivers is not an easy thing for a team like RBR which joined the sport just 6 years ago.
After one of the most dramatic seasons in the history of Formula 1, RBR secured the constructors’ championship for the first time in its career and Sebastian Vettel secured the drivers’ title at the very last race of the season to become the youngest champion
in the history of the sport as well.
Despite the fact that the team went through a hard time throughout the season, it was an amazing run for them as a result, they kept both Vettel and Webber for another season keeping in mind that they do not have a very good relationship following the 2010
Formula 1 season.
RBR are a very consistent team and it seems that they are going to give McLaren and Ferrari a very tough time in the future as well keeping in mind that they have two of the best drivers in the sport as well now.
