Mercedes AMG driver Nico Rosberg was born in Wiesbaden, West Germany on June 27, 1985 and started kart racing just after ten years.
In 2002, he made his debut in Formula ADAC Championship and won the title after claiming nine victories. Afterwards, with his impressive performances he was able to win a Williams test. Moreover, it will be interesting to mention that he is the youngest
ever driver in the history to sit behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.
In 2003, he took part in Formula three Euro Series in which he could only secured one victory and came 8th in the championship. However, in the following year, he improved his performance and claimed 3 victories in the same championship.
In 2005, he joined the ART Grand Prix team and participated in the opening GP2 championship which was a replacement of Formula 3000 series and won the title. Furthermore, he secured a race seat with Williams for the next year.
In 2006, the veteran German made his debut in Formula 1 with Williams and finished at 14th position in the drivers’ championship. In addition, he set the fastest lap in Bahrain GP and secured third grid position in Malaysia.
Nonetheless, he proved out to be quicker in his second season with the British team and came ninth in the championship with 20 points. In 2008, he came well prepared and secured an incredible second podium finish in Singapore. He ended at 13th place in the
drivers’ standings while he secured eighth position thrice during the season.
In 2009, he was able to secure fourth place finish at Grands Prix in Germany and Hungary which were his best results throughout the season. Besides, he departed from Williams and signed a new contract with Mercedes for the following season.
In his first season with the Brackley based team, he completely outperformed his teammate Michael Schumacher who made his comeback in F1 in the same year. Moreover, he secured several podium finishes during the season and scored almost twice as compared
to the points of his compatriot. He finished the season at seventh position in the drivers’ championship.
In 2011, he secured seventh position ahead of his seven-time world champion with 89 points overall. However, he struggled with his performance due to the lack of W02’s pace.
In 2012, he is currently standing at sixth position in the drivers’ standing with 35 points ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus. In the opening two races of the season held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia,
he could not score even a single point.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to note that he has claimed his first ever pole in this season leading to his maiden GP victory in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China.
Additionally, after qualifying for fifth grid position at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir he secured the same position in the race.
Even though, he has delivered quite reasonable performances in the season so far, however, he said that they still need to make the necessary advancements and the essential preparations for the races ahead in order to enhance the pace of W03. He also said
that his team is one of the most competitive teams to fight for this year’s title.
