A detailed look on two-time world champion Red Bull Racing team – Formula 1
Red Bull Racing have emerged as an incredible team in Formula 1 over the span of last few years.
The team has won two consecutive world championships during the last two seasons with an extremely talented driver, Mark Webber and of course the quickest one, Sebastian Vettel who won his back-to-back titles with the team during 2010-2011.
In 2005, the Australian owned team started its first campaign after the purchase of the Jaguar group during the preceding year which proved out to be very successful. The team collected more points during the first two races as compared to the points of
Jaguar which the later managed to collect in the entire previous year. At the end of the season, they finished seventh in the overall championship standings.
Regardless of the Ferrari domination, second season of Red Bull during 2006 witnessed more struggle from the team. Moreover, David Coulthard scored the first podium for the team in Monaco. However, they scored 18 points less than the last year’s season and
faced mounting challenge from Toro Rosso.
In 2007, Red Bull took a tough start off with RB3 designed by Adrian Newey. However, the pace and reliability of the car improved during the middle of the season. Red Bull enjoyed the best finish at the European Grand Prix with Coulthard at fifth and Webber
at third positions.
In 2008, the Renault powered RB4, despite almost similar chassis was increasingly outperformed by Ferrari powered Toro Rosso car engine. However, Coulthard was third in Canadian GP while the team came to seventh from fifth position as compared to the last
year.
In 2009, Vettel and Webber, the two immensely talented and amazing drivers with faster RB5 scored their first pole and victory in the Chinese GP.
Moreover, Red Bull appeared the only challenger for Ross Brawn’s team and finished second in both the championships while remained dominant by their great performances towards the end of the season.
In 2010, the team won both the titles with the remarkable performance of the drivers. Moreover, Red Bull had the faster car RB6 during the season but the car faced some reliability issues, driving mistakes and some strange weather conditions while the team
moved ahead in the championship standings during the middle of the season. Nevertheless, with consistent improvements in the car they eventually became the world champions.
2011 was yet another glorious year for the team in which Vettel with his car RB7 remained on top throughout the season with 11 wins out of 19 races and 15 poles.
Moreover, Vettel’s teammate Webber took three poles with one victory in the last GP. However, the contenders got closer to Red Bull but the team took a wonderful victory at the end of the year.
There is no doubt that Red Bull had been the favourite team for the upcoming 2012 F1 season starting at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia. However, recently they had faced some implications regarding the aerodynamics of the car after they had done some
up gradation work on the new car RB8 during the last pre-season testing held at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona and the test drive by Vettel did not go the way which they had planned for.
Nevertheless, Red Bull had been considered as the front-runner of the forthcoming season but the time will tell how they perform with the most favourite driver, Vettel on their side.
