A detailed performance analysis of Sauber in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far
Sauber’s 2012 campaign is going pretty well so far compared to its 2011 exploits.
The team had a disappointing result t the final race before the summer break but they will be content with the team’s performance prior to that, as the team has been able to rake in vital points in the season to be placed sixth so far.
The team scored 12 points in the opening race so the season showing some promise that they might be able to force their way into the top five of the current season.
The Malaysian Grand Prix paid more dividends for the team as Sergio Perez went on to finish second in the race narrowly missing out on the win to Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso.
The Chinese Grand Prix was a poor one for the team as they only managed to score 1 point from the race. The team reached lower ebb as they were not able to score any points at Bahrain.
The team introduced new updates to the car and managed to score 10 points at the Spanish GP but it was followed by another dismal performance at Monaco where the duo of Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi could not manage to score. That was the second Grand
Prix for the team where they failed to score.
The Canadian Grand Prix brought in a better result for the team as they managed to score 17 points. The European Grand Prix could only conjure two points from the race clearly showing the up and down behaviour of the team in the season.
The German Grand Prix was the best of the season for the team as they managed 20 points but it was again followed by a poor race at the Hungarian Grand Prix where they again failed to score any points.
The team has had a lot of ups and downs in the season and they have not been able to consistently perform, it is still a relatively much better performance in comparison to their 2011 campaign. If Sauber can manage to be consistent after the summer break
they have a good possibility of getting through the top five of the season. That would really be an achievement for the team.
They have good drivers and a good car, what they need to do is to remain consistent and reliable to finish all the races with points.
The team has 80 points in the season so far and are 26 points behind fifth placed Mercedes which is another team struggling to perform in the season.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares as the season progresses.
