A detailed profile of Levi “Launchin’ Levi” LaVallee
He is a force to be reckoned with. The man has been leaving quite an impact in the snowmobile events in all major tours for the last six years. We have seen him do some pretty amazing stuff in Winter X Games last year, something that must have left my people
in awe. The man is none other than Levi LaVallee.
Levi LaVallee, also known as Launchin Levi by extreme sports fans, is revolutionizing the world of snocross racing and freestyle tricks. The man competes with so much passion and commitment that it seems very unlikely to find him falter in front of any competition.
It is crucial to mention here that his competitors are nothing but only the best in the field. The credit goes to LaVallee for prevailing over such talented riders and landing himself the top slot.
Launchin’ Levi has been participating in multiple disciplines much like the legends of yesteryear such as Tim Bender, Kirk Hibbert and Bob Eastman. However, LaVallee has accomplished what these legends had not even attempted to go for. In 2009, he managed
to clinch the title of Pro Super Storck points in ISOC national snocross racing.
His next stage was the ESPN Winter X Games 13 that was being held in Aspen, Colorado. He nailed the gold at the event by pulling of a successful and epic double back-flip at the Speed and Style event. People should have been expecting such amazing stuff
from him since he had pretty much left everyone breathless in Winter X Games 12 by entering all three events and ending up winning gold in both Speed and Style and Freestyle. Such sensational performance earned him the award for “Athlete of the Games” in 2008.
It is just natural for such an exciting superstar to enjoy the attention and show off his exceptional skills. He is the only person in history to have attempted a double back-flip during a competition on a snowmobile. He came extremely close to actually
landing one successful in 2009 but failed to do so in the end. Early in his career, LaVallee said,
“We’re out there to put on a show. That’s what the fans pay their money for, so why not give it to them?”
This pretty much explains why we are treated to some amazing tricks during his double and triple jump during the snocross event. It is a rarity to see LaVallee complete a run without peppering it with something unique and totally unexpected.
Like any other superstar, Levi LaVallee’s rise to the top did not happen without him facing some disappointments and incidents that tested his endurance. He started off his career as a pro snow rider in 2002 and gradually made his way to the top. On the
way he suffered injuries and inconsistent races finishes. Moments away from capturing the gold medal in Winter X Games in 2004, he ejected himself from the sled and lost out on clinching the big one. He had to miss out on the 2004-05 season as well after getting
the ACL in his left knee torn during the qualifications for Duluth Snocross.
The star made a comeback in 2006 and started showing signs of excellence more strongly than before. He had matured and his craft had evolved. He has been improving ever since, his confidence on a constant rise. The years that followed proved to be memorable
for him and saw him climb to the top.
The legendary athlete has 3 Winter X gold and 5 Winter X medals to his name. The title of the athlete of the game in 2008 is nothing to be modest about either. He is still going strong and hopeful to add more medals to his name before he gives up.
