  1. letter D.

    when was it exactly?

it was on december 22nd, 2007 when the nanhai, the sunken ship, was raised from the seabed.

i hope i was able to help you with this one////im from the philippines

  2. the answer is C. "that"

the word "that" is correct in both sentences.

  3. the answer is d.

when was it exactly? (it could also be "that".)

it was on december 22nd, 2007 when the nanhai no. 1, the sunken ship, was raised from the seabed.

  4. I am pretty sure it's D.

Since the 3rd line starts out with it, the answer above has to be it. So, it's either A or D. Then, it explains the event. So, the next one has to be when.

  5. The correct answer is C: that, that.

When was that exactly -- this refers to the previous sentence and an event. So it requires "that" not "it."

Most Americans would get this wrong, too. So, I wouldn't worry too much about this particular construction.

  6. I'm going with Pippa on this one.  It is my instinct to use A it and that, rather than D.....it and when, as to me 'when' would seem almost tautological, but not incorrect.

  7. "When was it exactly?" is correct, but "When was that exactly?" is also correct.

"it" and "that" refer to the time of the discovery, and the question is the same as asking "When was the discovery exactly?"

"It was on December 22, 2007 that the Nanhai No. 1, the sunken  ship was raised from the seabed." is correct.

Sometimes you might hear someone say "It was on December 22, 2007 when the Nanhai No. 1, the sunken ship, was raised from the seabed.", but most people will say "that" and not "when".

  8. A, isn't it?

  9. Sorry Falling Down, I have to side with wild turkey here.  Either are correct.

The differnces between "it" and "that" regard distance: temporal, physical, and in discriptive or linguistic constructive proximity.  In all three cases, in this instance, there is not enough distance to demand the use of "that" in the first sentence.

  10. A
