A double question?

As owner of a group I have two questions.

1)A person has joined my group and posted a message I was notified by email of the person joining but their name does not appear in the membership list! How can that be?

2)How can I be allowed to decide if I want the person as a member before they become one?

  1. I cannot answer your 1st question bu can answer your second:

If you make your group "restricted" you invite and approve all members.

  2. 1. That person could have changed the name in their personal profile after becoming a member.

    OR

They could have changed some of their membership info on your group since joining. To see if this happened, look in your Membership Activity Log. Go to Management, then underneath Group Activity, click on Membership.  Scroll through the timespan of when this person joined your group and when the message was posted.  You will see where he/she has made the change. It will contain both old and new.

    2.  Make your group Restricted (You approve all requests for membership)

    Sign in to Group.

    Click Management.

    Under Group Settings, click Membership.

To the right of "Membership Type and Welcome Message", click "Edit".

Underneath Membership Type and Welcome Message and to the right of Membership Type, select Restricted (you approve all requests for membership).

    Click "Save Changes".

  3. 1. Yahoo does not add members to your membership list immediately. It may take a few days in some cases.

    2.

Can I moderate just the new members who join my group? How?
