  1. I'm in Murray, KY and I woke up to my bed moving about 4:30 this morning. I had no idea it was an actual earthquake!

  2. I live in Belleville, IL.  I felt the quake this morning around 4 something.  Now, I have just felt the aftershock around 1030am.  I hope this does not become a regular occurrence.

  3. I felt it in KY. Honestly, I thought it was just me at first. Kind of like when you feel like you're falling when you're getting ready to fall asleep. I had been trying to get back to sleep for about 30 mins. before the quake. It's hilarious how everyone here (including me) is so amazed because we're just not used to that. It's my first earthquake.

  4. I live in Logan County Kentucky and I woke up at 4:45am this morning thinking i was going crazy...I am glad everybody else felt it too!!!!

  5. Please fill out the U.S.G.S.'s survey about what you felt at http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/shake/STORE/...

The main page for U.S. Earthquake reports is http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

  6. I am in Clinton county Indiana and I could feel it while sitting in my office at my desk.

My chair began to "sway" with me in it!

Only lasted about 10 seconds. Really weird experience!

  7. Yeah, we felt it in Louisville.

  8. My husband felt it in Ft. Thomas and I saw lights flicker on my way to work around Ronald Regan Hwy in OH.

  9. Yes, felt it in St. Louis, shook the blg and blinds!! Dogs went nuts, don't know where it was yet, no news but sure did feel it!!

  10. i felt the afterschocks! lol it woke me upp! i live in illinois

  11. we felt it here in Kentucky too! I think Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois all felt it!

    we felt it too!!!

I'm in Belleville, Illinois right outside St. Louis, MO

  13. Actually, I think they've decided that the epicenter was outside Olney, Illinois~a 5.4 quake. At least that's the location that was given at the website where I typed in a report. Yahoo's front page has West Salem, but I don't know if that's the Olney area. Perhaps it's the "outside" the website refers to.

Effingham is just north of there, and it was rocking hard for about five minutes~not seconds! It took about an hour for my heartrate to return to near normal, yet I wasn't really frightened, just disoriented. I was trying to figure out what was causing the sound and motion: windstorms/tornado, plane crash at the nearby county airport, train derailment at the nearby tracks, or... Then, it hit me: earthquake!

I'm not sure if everything in the house is where it should be after a "moderate" shaking up. I was still awake and here at Y!A when it hit, but I think my mom must have slept through it. It's 6:15 a.m. now, and I should be trying to get some sleep. Hmmm... I wonder why I might have trouble relaxing?

At various questions, I've seen posts from throughout Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. And, I just read the one above from Ohio. That's very scary, especially around the New Madrid Fault. I know all about what that rascally faultline has done and could do! *SHUDDER*

Here's to no aftershocks! Knock on wood!!!

NOTE: It mentions the 1968 earthquake. I remember that one, but I swear this one seemed worse and felt as if it lasted longer. Other times, we've had faint tremors, and those are bad enough. 5.4?!

  14. I felt the tremors in Florence,KY.  Crazy.  It was scary at first and it felt like it took forever to report it.

  15. Yeah!! I`m in Meade County, KY and we felt a pretty good shaker. Unusual for this area huh? The fault line is called Numandrick, and they said this morning it hasn`t been active since 1968. Rock and Roll!

  16. Yes, we felt it south of Louisville.  The last earthquake I felt in this area was June 1987.   Mild earthquakes are not that uncommon here.  Have a good day - it's bright and sunny.

  17. I live in Owensboro Kentucky and my husband and I were woke up by the house shaking for at least 5 minutes minium this morning. A friend of mine in Fordsville, KY felt it just as strong and a friend of mine is telling me that a sink hole opened up in Evansville Indiana and some bricks had fallen off buildings.
