A family court issue...

Question

Hello, I have just been served but the petition says I am the interested party, on the bottem, and the respondent is my sons father? the petitioner is my mom, it is in regard to child support. I just am wondering what does interested party mean??? and the court is asking me for paternity???/ fyi: my mom has temp custody of one of my kids, so I am confused as to why the court would be asking me paternity, and why then am I not the respondent, and the interested party???

From the way you described it, your mom (who has custody of one of your children) is asking the courts to determine paternity of that child.  You are considered to be an interested party because you are the biological mother of that child.

I have to agree with the first answer.  It sounds like your mom has petitioned the court to determine paternity and because you are the childs mother that makes you an intrested party.
