A felony or a misdemenor?

my freind was arrestead 4 a dui a lil over a year ago. he was sentenced to community service but failed to complete the hours he was arrestead during a rutine traffic stop where he was my passenger. he was arrested and released on bail went to his court date and was sentenced 24days in cook county jail is this whole thing going to be a felony on his record or a misdemenor does anyone know or is this to vauge of a question?

it could go either way depends on the judge. but if your friend was court ordered to do the community service and didn't complete it then it should only be considered a misdemeanor

As long as no accident was involved with an injury, it will only be a Misdemeanor !

It sounds like it's a Class A misdemeanor per the link below.  If it were a felony, he probably would have been sentenced to prison last year.

from the sounds of it the arrest resulted from a first conviction DUI which is a misdemeanor........therefore it's only a misdemeanor on his record.  The community service he was required to do was part of the fines etc received in lieu of jail time.  He failed to complete so now he will have to serve the suspended jail sentence he originally received.
