OK, going to save my points here and ask three questions in one.

1. What is the best way to sanitize bottles?

2. How often should I replace nipples?

3. How often should I replace the bottle entirely?

I use Playtex Drop-ins

  1. 1. boil them or dishwasher is fine

    2. when you notice them leaking more milk than usual- the hole will get bigger in the nipple and sometimes gag the baby. you'll know when it happens

    3. considering babies should be off the bottle by one year you shouldn't have to replace a bottle unless its broken or cracked.

  2. some people just use the dish washer. I didnt have that luxury, I used to just wast them with very hot soapy water and a bottle brush. Your using drop ins so they should last a very long time. The nipples are good for 6 months I believe, but replace if you notice any discoloration, any wear at all, any cracking of the nipple or hole...

  3. My doctor told me that it wasn't necessary to sterilize them with every washing... As long as I used hot soapy water and cleaned them thoroughly (dishwasher is ok too).  When the nipples start to go bad, they usually thin out in spots, or change colors.  You'll have a pretty good idea of when they need to be replaced (it kind of one of those things, when you see it, you'll just know). If you're using drop ins, you probably won't have a need to replace the bottle.  Unless it somehow breaks or becomes damaged.
