I have a 29 gallon tank with a filter and heater. Here is my stocking list

2 Pearl Gouramis

3 Killifish

3 Dwarf Pecilfish

1 Marbel Hatchetfish

3 Lemon Tetras

3 Cory Cats

1 Albino Rainbow Shark

1. Is my tank overstocked?

2. If not, could I add 1-2 more Hatchetfish?

3. My Pearl Gouramis were very social for the first 2 months or so they were in it but now they always hide behind my driftwood and I never see them. Tips on coaxing them out from hiding? (Other than getting rid of the driftwood)

4. One of my Killifish's mouth is somewhat out of place (there is no other way I can describe it). Is he still okay?

5. Do Dwarf Pencilfish breed redily in aquarium tanks? How do I tell if they are male or female?

6. Is my Albino Rainbow Shark okay alone? Or do they like being in pairs or groups?

7. Since the Shark and one of the corys are albino, would it be good to have floating plants to protect them from too much light? (I read this somewhere on the internet)

8. In a seperate tank I have a female betta who has mouth fungus. She has been treated for 4 days, and I just re-treated the tank. If it isn't gone after this treatment, what should I do?

9. I have 5 male guppies in a 10 gallon tank. Can I add anything else? If so what? (No more guppies or bettas, please!

10. Thanks!!

  1. your tank is not overstocked, but you won't want to add more fish. your gouramis may be be attacked by one of your more aggressive fish such as the shark.Your killifish is fine as long as hes eating regularly. you will need to add live plants and live food such as java moss and blood worms for the fish to breed. no sharks should be together that's a dangerous mix even with a male and female. no they won't mind the light. you should keep treating the tank. small fish will do fine in the ten gallon but don't overstock.

  2. Wow, thats a lot of questions. I'll do my best to answer all them..

    1. Its pretty full. But you can add one more hachet because they like the surface, and they shouldn't be kept alone.

    2. Look at above question.

    3. Turn the wood around, and feed them in front of the wood.

    4. If it acts okay, and eats then its probably fine.

    5. Nope, unless you have the right conditions.

    6. Yes, your shark is okay alone. They actually prefer it!

    7. You can add floating plants if you want to. Or just get some paper and put it under the light. (only if its flouresent). It doesn't really matter though.

    8. You should keep treating it and add some aquarium salt. (.5 teaspoons per a gallon)

    9. You can add a rubberlip pleco, or a loach.

    10. Your Welcome!! ;D Sam

  3.    No, I don't think it is, you should be able to add two more fish. Your Gouramis are hiding because that's what they like to do, I guess it's in their nature you can say. If your Killifish is still alive and doing good it should be fine.  I'm not sure on the rest of your questions but the 10gallon guppy aquarium they say should be in bigger fish tanks but I have had mine in that small before so I guess it just depends, I had other fish in their with them, I had a red tetra and a goldfish. They all did great together. Hope this helps

  4. 1. Yes. The Gouramis grow too big, the Shark may be pushing it, and everything else is ok.

    2. No.

    3. Do they come out to eat?

    4. It was probably born like that.

    5. Not that I've heard of. Raise the temperature to 86* F, and provide fine leaved plants and/or Java Moss.

    6. It's ok alone. 2 or more will actually fight with each other, unless they're male and female.

    7. I have never heard of that. But you can get some floating plants or Water Sprite (trust me, it grows fast) to block the light.

    8. Keep treating it. Do the research and see how long it takes on average for fungus to go away.

    9. Otocinclus, Cory Cat, and Dwarf Chain Loach are some choices as to more fish.

    10. You're welcome? lol
