1. If you want to study how energetic waves affect matter, you should study waves with a _______.

2. If the amplitude of the waves coming from a light bulb decreased, which would you expect to happen?

The intensity of the light would increase.

The light waves would travel faster.

The brightness of the bulb would decrease.

  1. 1.  Higher frequency and shorter wavelength.

               Energy of light waves increases with increasing frequency, and higher frequency means shorter wavelength by the equation  lambda = c / f,  where lambda is wavelength, f is frequency, c is the speed of the wave.

    2.  Brightness of the bulb will decrease.

    Brightness corresponds to amplitude of waves.  Greater amplitude means greater brightness (so lower amplitude means less brightness).
