A few questions about AFL rules?

1) Can you wear the number 0 or 00?

2) Why do the umpires point to the opposite teams goals when awarding a free kick?

3) Why can't the boundary umpire award a free kick for deliberate out of bounds? They're normally in the best position to make the call.

  1. 0 or 00 are not allowed at AFL level....Why i guess they dont have a column for that number lol

Why do umpires point?    easy we all know they are blind so they are actually telling their seeing eye dogs to

    FETCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHH

Not sure why boundary umpires cant award that free kick but then again when a player is awarded against (see Saints v Doggies) last night, from some 50 metres and kick slipped out............    the rule is a joke anyway.

Now some one asked me the other day.......backs reguarly walk the ball over the boundary when caught...........rarely are they penalized. whyyyyyyyyyy?   If you dont think it happens watch a few matches and be amazed that this is not policed.

  2. NO, and i am glad we can't, lets keep our game an aussie game.

because they are awarding the kick and the player has to go back behind the mark.

because they are silly little men who can only say when the ballis over the line, lets not give those little turds any more power.

  3. 1) Only if you're a no-body perhaps :-).  No: clubs are assigned numbers from #1 to however many listed players they are allowed to have plus a few.  (So retiring a number is actually a big deal)

    2) They're pointing (or more gesturing where the ball has to be given)  to the player who has the kick and (theoretically) back from the mark where the kick is to be taken.  Always seemed a bit strange to me too.

    3) Have you ever met a boundary umpire??? No, in seriousness that would often be a good idea when the boundary ump is in close proximity but they will also try to position themselves a half to one kick ahead of the play.  They typically have about 250 to 300 metres of boundary to look after, so they usually aren't in better position than the umps.

  4. 1) why do we want to emulate the US,

    2) Pointing the wrong way stems from Rugby Union's past influence, just shows who the free kicks against.

    3) Do we really want more umpires to make more dubious decisions I think not.
