A few questions about Carnival Cruise line.?

I am an experienced cruise traveler, but I have never been on a carnival cruise before. We are going on a 7 night caribbean cruise this august. Does carnival have semi-formal and/or formal nights for dining? If so, what exactly should I wear on formal night (I'm a teeange girl). Last time on the disney cruise line I felt really underdressed at the formal night, everyone was so dressed up, I felt like I was a prom. Is that how it is on Carnival cruises? Also, any tips would be great for Carnival Cruise line. Thanks.

  1. On formal nights I wear a short cocktail dress, nothing "prom-ish." On semi-formal nights a sundress or nice skirt and top will do, and any other night khaki pants or cute skirt and top is good enough. There are always people in tuxes and gowns, but it's really not necessary. If you feel like wearing jeans some night, just head to the buffet or pizzeria. You don't HAVE to go to the main dining room after all.

  2. i have sailed with Carnival Cruise Lines twice and both times I wore a cocktail dress. I suggest that you do the same as you are young and there is really no need for a long or ball gown dress. A cocktail dress is still classy and chic; also manageable (specially when walking around non carpet areas, pool deck, or up and down stairs).

Hope this information is helpful and enjoy your cruise!!..

  3. Depending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo (optional); suit and tie; sport coat, tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts and bathing attire are not permitted in the Dining Room during dinner.

Casual attire and resort wear is the order of the day both on board and in port. Shorts, slacks, sundresses, blouses, etc., are in line for women. Clothing for men is just as casual. You should bring a pair of rubber-soled sandals or sneakers to wear on deck and a pair of good walking shoes. You might also want to consider bringing along a sweater or jacket for cool evenings and inexpensive rain gear in case of a sudden shower. Women may want to bring along a hat or scarf. You'll have a chance to dress up on two nights during 7 day or longer cruises (one night on shorter cruises) for the Captain's Cocktail Party and the Gala Farewell Dinner. On the other evenings you can dress casually for dinner (no shorts or tank tops).

  4. I've been on 3 Carnival cruises. They were all 7 days in length. Each one had 2 formal nights. You can either wear a cocktail dress or a long dress. You might want to avoid "ball gown" styles as they are really hard to pack and take up way too much space.
