my ex is/was in the national guard. he says he transfered to active army but then why would he be deploying with his old national guard unit..unless he really didnt go active?

also. he has been arrested twice now for assult (hes only 20 and both times he was drunk). he just had court about the first assult charge last week and then he got arrested tonight. he is suppose to be leaving for 2 weeks of training on the 2nd and then h**l be going to iraq about a week after he gets home. could his arrests delay his training and deployment? could he be dishonorably discharged for his bad conduct?

  1. He is probably lying to you and you souldnt want to be with or be conserened with anyone that lies to you or gets arrested more than once for assult.

  2. im not trying to insult you, but it sounds like your ex is blowing so much smoke up your behind, cuz if he was active duty, he would be under UCMJ actions for the assults, and drinking underage. Training to go to Iraq, takes a lil more time, then a week or so. Usually takes about a month or more. ESP if he is still National Guard.

  3. I agree with the previous answerer. I think you've definitely been lied to. I am sorry for that and I cannot tell you for sure.

Usually before any deployment there is a training process in the Army its NTC in different combat training camps, my husband was in Calif for his and it was a month long exercise.

As for the assault issue, there are different codes and all sorts of things that can be thrown at him for his behavior. It just depends on his platoon and how they run things. Some platoons for example, tend to have the soldiers with attitude problems the ones who have the most misconducts. In that situation they would most likely drop his rank(s) depending on his grade and assign him to a really menial task.

In other higher or more professionally ranked units, he would not only lose rank, he could be reassigned to a totally different area (to the misfits platoons in other words) and they could discharge him.

But in most cases they are gonna send his butt to afghan or Iraq. There is not much chance that acting out will get him out of his contract and it may even expedite him to the desert a lot faster than you think! You have to be injured or to seriously comit a major offense for them to discharge. He will be assigned to kick in doors/patrol, or he will be assigned to sweep someone's steps.

  4. Mark and Somebody pretty much covered it, so my advice is dump the loser, stay friends (if you want) get on with your life. Go to school, (REALLY  important). Find a great job. You will meet someone in a while that will make you go all gaa gaa and then all's well in Pleasant Valley.
