I'm 19 and I've been training for a month 3-4 hours a day and i'm very naturally athletic how much longer should i train before registering as an amatuer boxer? I'm 5'9 and 160 lbs right now what weight class would be best for me? How do they calculate reach?

  1. Has a qualified trainer, not an aerobics boxing instructor, but someone who knows the game training you? Has the trainer taught you the basics? Have you gotten far enough in your training to learn that offense and defense aren't separate of each other but flow together? Have you sparred frequently? Have you learned to relax during your sparring so as not to waste energy while in competition?

Your weight and height seem right, although each person's build is different. Do you feel weak or strong at 160? You would be fighting as a middleweight, the amatuer weight limit is 165. Reach is measured from finger tip to finger tip while your arms are held up at your sides at shoulder level.
