"most people are real nice when you finally see them" (281) Why does Lee end this tradegedy filled book on such optimistic terms?

Does Heck Tates "solution" at the end of the novel create justice , or can justice only be acheived throguh a court of law?

  1. It's a long time since I read this book, I was in grade ten and it was 1987.  (And it was slyly referred to by the boys as "Tequila Mockingbird".)

As for Lee's reasoning, sorry that was too long ago, and is your question about Heck Tate.  But reading your question reminded me of a couple of quotes that might look good in your paper.

"Truth is not the product of legal argument."  I think that's Lev Tolstoy and out of his book "Resurrection".

"You do not understand how important innocence is to innocent people."  That is Michael Chamberlain, thee husband of Lindy Chamberlain who was sentenced to life for the murder of their eight week old daughter Azaria.  This is is famous "help, help, that dingo's got my baby" story from Australia in 1980.

Hope they help, sorry I can't tell you more about Tequila Mockingbird.

  2. this site always helps me when I have to write this kind of paper...http://www.gradesaver.com/classicnotes/t...

  3. I'll answer the first one. She ends it that way to make you see the hypocrisy. Once you really get to know a person, they can be really nice. You shouldn't let rumors tarnish your opinion of a person you barely know.

And justice can be achieved in court, but very rarely in these racist times. The jury were very partial. So I'd say his solution could be a proper solution that provided justice.

  4. Honestly, these kinds of questions are just asking you to think and are opinion based Evaluative Questions not factual questions that people can help you with.

You have to have an opinion and no opinion is wrong but asking other people their opinion is not going to give you the answer you need.   I have my opinion and you have yours.  Its really pretty cheap to write other people's opinions on your paper.  Its practically plagerism.

Think...how and why does something bad turn into something good?  Why do people remain positive under discouraging situations?  How can even a criminal have a good side and a saint have a bad side?  Are people only how we see them or are they something more that we can not see?  You have to answer these questions for yourself because self discover will stay in your mind longer than some memorized facts someone else told you.

What is your opinion.  Don't avoid thinking and don't be afraid of your own ideas.  You aren't wrong.
