The sound doesnt increase with volume and it isnt constant but once it starts it will go on and then off after a while and then back on. It is limited to the left front where there are two speakers. I took the cover off the smaller of the two expecting to see a loose wire but it was soldered and tight. the larger left front speaker and the wires running in the door jamb are the next target for inspection. What is perplexing is that going over bumps and the shifting action of my shift lever seem to start the static or exagerate it at least.

  1. it seems like to me that you busted your speaker

  2. i had a problem similar to this check the terminals on the back of the speaker for clearance, on my car my terminals were touching the metal frame of the door behind the panel causing static from time to time when i would hit bumps, when it was real hot, when it was raining, things of that sort. so check for that another thing that may help is the wires in the door jam if there being pinched the insulation may be cracked causing a short, you can also try moving your stereo ground to a chassis ground instead of having it as part of the factory wire harness
