Born on October 7, 1987 in the city of California, the professional tennis player, Sam Querrey from the United States of America currently resides in Santa Monica. He is famous as a powerful forehand player. Sam has recently won the Farmers Classic tennis competition 2010 after getting the better of Andy Murray. Therefore, let us discuss his performances since the start of 2010 up till now.
Querrey participated at the hard court Australian Open tournament as his very first championship of the season. The American was however dismissed in round number one by Rainer Schuttler who reached the final of the event back in 2003. The American later on participated at the SAP Open competition and successfully managed to make his way into the semi finals of the tournament where he was knocked down by his compatriot fellow Andy Roddick in a total of three sets. Nonetheless, Sam teamed with Mardy Fish and grabbed the doubles crown.
Sam’s next championship was the 2010 Regions Morgan Keegan tournament, where he appeared as the eighth seeded contender. He took the revenge of his defeat in San Jose by getting the better of Roddick in their quarterfinal clash with a final match score of 7–5, 3–6, 6–1 and reached the semi final round where he thrashed out Ernest Gulbis 6–3, 6–4. Sam then faced John Isner in the final battle and carried on his winning momentum and won the title with a final match score of 6–7(3), 7–6(5), 6–3. He along with John also grabbed the doubles title and therefore registered his name as the very first player to triumph in both the doubles as well as the singles competition at Memphis at the same time since 1981.
Sam’s next appearance came at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel where he was dismissed in round number one by Fernando Gonzalez in a total of three difficult sets. The final score was 4–6, 6–3, 6–7(2–7).
The seventeenth seeded Querrey at the BNP Paribas Open competition, was once again kicked out in round number one by Jeremy Chardy.
During the month of April, the American professional player, Sam Querrey contested at the U.S. Men's Clay Court tournament and successfully reached the semi final round where he defeated Wayne Odesnik to make his way into his eighth ATP final. The American however, lost in the final battle to Juan Ignacio Chela who grabbed the 2010 title of U.S. Men's Clay Court tournament.
Sam later on took part in the 2010 Serbia Open competition and advanced to the final where met John Isner. This time, Sam successfully grabbed his first ATP trophy on clay after knocking down Isner in a total of three sets.
As far as the major championships are concerned, the American participated at the clay court Grand Slam French Open championship this season as the eighteenth seeded player. Sam however was kicked out in round number one by Robby Ginepri in a total of four sets.
At the AEGON tournament in London, the twenty two years old Sam thrashed out his compatriot, Mardy Fish 7–6 7–5 to win the Queen’s club title.
As far as the grass court Grand Slam championship, Wimbledon 2010 is concerned; Sam entered the All England Club as an eighteenth seeded player. The American made his way till the fourth round of the championship on the very first occasion on his career where he was defeated by the Brit number one tennis ace, Andy Murray.
In a more recent performance, the right handed American, grabbed a trophy at the Framers Classic in Loss Angeles, after beating Andy Murray 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-3 in the final battle. The victory came as his first one against the Scot in their five clashes over the past.
