A flash back of the 2010 performances of Kim Antonie Lode Clijsters
Born on 8 June 1983 in the city of Bilzen, the former number one tennis ace from the women’s side, Kim Antonie Lode Clijsters is currently ranked number seven in the world. The right handed player has captured a total of thirty seven WTA singles trophies as well as eleven doubles titles so far in her career.
She grabbed the US Open singles trophy back in 2005 as well as in 2009. Kim retired from the game of tennis back in 2007 however after two years, the 1.74 meters tall came back with effect from the summer hard court season last year. Just after a total of three championships, Kim grabbed another major title at the United States Open competition at the Flushing Meadows in New York.

At the 2010 hard court Australian Open championship, the Belgian tennis ace, Kim Clijsters entered the competition as seeded fifteen. She started off nicely after defeating Valerie Tetreault in her first round match in a time period of one hour. The final match score was 6–0, 6–4. During her second round clash, Kim met Tamarine Tanasugar and got the better of her in a two setter match. However, Kim was shocked by the 20th ranked player in the world in her next match, when Nadia Petrova knocked her down with a final match score of 6–0, 6–1 in a total of fifty two minutes.
After the first major tournament of the season, Clijsters took part at the BNP Paribas Open as her third tournament of the year in Indian Wells. The Belgian was kicked out by Alisa Kleybanova in her third round clash in a total of three sets.
However, the twenty seven years old Belgian came back strongly at the Sony Ericsson Open competition in Miami which is considered as the second mandatory tournament of the season.
Kim, right from the start of the event, played some wonderful tennis and went on to reach the final round after knocking down players like Samantha Stosur, Petr Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka, Shahar Pe'er as well as Justine Henin on her way to the final battle.
In the final match, Kim faced the third seeded Venus Williams and successfully managed to knock her down in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-2, 6-1 in a total of fifty eight minutes. As a result of winning the crown, Clijsters world ranking jumped to as high as number ten in the world.
Kim, afterwards, participated in her very first clay court competition after a period of three years at the Andalucia Tennis Experience where she was seeded third for the championship. She, however, was knocked down in the round number two of the championship by Alexandra Dulgheru in a total of three sets.
Kim did not contest at the clay court French Open tournament this season and came back at the tune up matches of the grass court Grand Slam event. At the 2010 Wimbledon, the Belgian tennis ace, Kim Clijsters started off well by knocking down her Italian opponent Maria Elena Camerin in a total of two sets. She then got the better of Karolina Sprem as well as Maria Kirilenko in straight sets to confirm her fourth round match with Justine Henin and defeated her with a final match score of 2-6, 6-2, and 6-3. Clijsters, in her next match however, shockingly was knocked down by Vera Zvonareva 3-6 6-4, 6-2, who ended the grass court Grand Slam tournament as runner up in the end.
As far as the upcoming US Open 2010 is concerned, the Belgian tennis ace, Kim Clijsters is really looking forward to add another title to her career.
