A flash back of the thrilling moments at Wimbledon 2010

There is surely nothing in comparison with this year’s Wimbledon edition on the tennis calendar as the grass court Grand Slam tournament was one of the finest one beyond any measure of speculations.

Isner’s eleven hours victory over Nicolas Mahut could not be surpassed. However, the likes of Roger Federer as well as Rafael Nadal went the distance in week number one as well. Nadal ultimately grabbed the trophy while Roger Federer, in a defining moment fell down prior to the grass court semi final match at the All England Club.

On the other hand, Serena Williams from the women’s side made an adaptation, early in the championship, no one matched her serve. It is the thirteenth Grand Slam trophy and reckoning for the world number one.

The umbrellas were utilized for shadow, not drizzle. No rain interruptions on the very first occasion since 1995.

Here is a quick flashback at the Big Wimbledon;

As far as the cherished player from the men’s side is concerned, Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard well fits in the category. When it was a critical moment where he was supposed to perform the best, the man actually exhibited the very best of tennis.

An eighth major seemed doubtful, following his knee injury and five-set games in the second and third round; however, from round number four and onwards, the twenty four years old Rafa missed just a single set. He grabbed all the major points.

From the women’s side, the most cherished player is none other than the American tennis sensation Serena Williams.  The twenty nine years old Williams did not miss a single set in two weeks and was only examined shortly by a magnificent triangle of Petra Kvitova, Maria Sharapova as well as Li Na.

The American blasted women’s championship record 89 aces.

A sports analyst on ESPN along with Mary Joe Fernandez who is the skipper of U.S. Fed Cup commented on her serve by saying that, “It picks up the pace when she requires it, starts spinning just at the right time, she can cut it, strike it and smash it into the body."

As far as the most disillusioned player from the men’s side is concerned, Andy Murray is certainly on top of the list.

He took advantage from a pushover draw to the quarterfinals and did not stumble. More than ever, his compatriots thought Great Britain's long wait of seventy four years for a male Grand Slam winner would come to its conclusion.

However, soon Andy Murray as always, staggered. Rafa got the better of him in the semis.

Tomas Berdych, is certainly no more the greatest underperformer in tennis and has contested as a breakthrough in this season’s Wimbledon edition.

The Czech following his French Open performance in fact did better at Wimbledon, ending Federer's command on the grass. Berdych did not play a bad game in the final against Rafa, either.

As far as the most upsetting progress is concerned, it is definitely Roger Federer’s health. His injured leg affected his quarter final match and thus contributed in his early exit from the Grand Slam grass court event. However, according to Tomas Berdych, “injured leg was only a justification”.

The tennis master however, was not feeling the very best of his health for sure. His back has also been a problem for the sixteen Grand Slams winner since long which is not a very healthy sign for the Swiss tennis sensation who will turn twenty nine this year.

Talking about the greatest tournament upset from the women’s side, Venus Williams is definitely in the line. The second seeded Venus was knocked down by Tsvetana Pironkova, a Bulgarian tennis player in spite of the fact that the American had a wonderful season of tennis along with her excellent grass court record.

So, these were definitely some of the moments that held the attention of the audiences for long and somehow or the other provided some exciting exhibit of the game of tennis at the All England Club.
