A flashback of Novak Djokovic’s 2010 performances

Born on 22 May 1987, the professional tennis player from Serbia, Novak Djokovic is currently the second ranked player by the ATP. The right handed Serbian has so far won only a single major title back in 2008 at the hard court Australian Open tournament. With this victory, Novak also registered his name as the first tennis player from Serbia to have won a major singles trophy. He also ended the United States Open tournament as runners up back in 2007. Moreover, this superb defensive player has also succeeded in the Tennis Masters Cup back in 2008 and has triumphed in a total of five Masters Series championships.
Talking about his 2010 performances, the Serbian tennis ace, Novak Djokovic started this season by participating in the Kooyong Classic where he knocked down Tommy Haas however was brought down by Fernando Verdasco in his second match.
As far as the Australian Open tennis tournament is concerned, Novak was kicked off by Jo- Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals with a final match score of 6–7(8), 7–6(5), 6–1, 3–6, 1–6. However, in spite of the fact that Novak failed to win in his quarterfinal clash, the Serbian tennis ace stayed at the second highest spot as Nadal could not manage to defend his crown and Federer won the title after knocking down Andy Murray in the final match.
Later on, the Serbian made his way into the semi final round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Championship which was held in Rotterdam. However, he lost to Mikhail Youzhny in a total of two sets. Djokovic then cruised into his second final in a row at the Dubai Tennis tournament and successfully managed to beat the Russian tennis player, Mikhail Youzhny, 7–5, 5–7, 6–3 to grab his first crown of the season.
After successfully defending his title in UAE, Novak Djokovic later on participated in his team’s Davis Cup tie versus the United States of America, which was held in Belgrade. He played pretty well and knocked down John Isner as well as Sam Querrey in a total of five sets.
Heading into the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters tournament, the hot favourite, Djokovic made his way into the semi final round after defeating players including David Nalbandian as well as Stanislas Wawrinka. However, in his semi final clash, the twenty three years old Novak was thrashed out by Fernando Verdasco in a total of two sets.
Being a 2009 winner at the Serbian Open tennis tournament, Novak participated in this year’s competition as well but retired in the quarterfinal round while playing against Filip Krajinovic due to injury problems. Later on, the Serbian also skipped the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open competition as a result of bad health.
Djokovic participated in the French Open tennis tournament of this season as the third seeded player. He knocked down players including Victor Hanescu, Evgeny Korolev, Robby Ginepri as well as Kei Nishikori on his way into the quarterfinals where he was hammered down by Jurgen Melzer in a total of five sets.
While playing against Melzer who was serving for the game at 5–4 in the set number five, Novak smashed a cross court forehand that would have provided the Serbian with a love-30 lead. However, Carlos Bernardes, an umpire ruled it out and therefore the right handed Novak not only lost the point but the match as well. Hawk eye inspection later on proved that Novak had been right when he shouted for his point and the ball had in reality been in.
In a more recent performance at the grass court Grand Slam tournament, the Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic reached the semi final round however was defeated by Tomas Berdych in a total of three sets in the end.
Therefore, the entire 2010 season has been a mixture of success and losses for Novak Djokovic so far however, he has not won any major title this year and we all are waiting to see him grabbing his second Grand Slam crown at the Flushing Meadows at the 2010 US Open in New York.
