A flashback of the 2010 performances of the Atlanta Tennis champ, Mardy Fish
The American professional tennis ace, Mardy Fish grabbed his second ATP title as he knocked down his compatriot fellow player John Isner in the final match of the Atlanta Tennis tournament. The American tennis ace, Mardy Fish is a silver medallist at the Olympics as well as an expert player as far as the hard surfaces is concerned. The man is certainly one of those American tennis players who came to the lime light at the start of the twenty first century.
Fish has grabbed a total of five championship victories as far as the main ATP Tour is concerned as well as has made his way into the final of Masters Series competition on two occasions. The first one being the Cincinnati championship back in 2003 and the Indian Wells on the second occasion back in 2008. His most outstanding outcomes at the major championship came at the Australian Open tournament back in 2007 where he made his way into the quarterfinal stage before falling down to his countrymen Andy Roddick as well as the United States Open back in 2008 where he managed to reach the quarterfinal stage once again prior to his defeat at the hands of top ranked Spaniard, Rafael Nadal.
As far as his most recent victory at the Atlanta tennis tournament is concerned, the sixth seeded Mardy Fish won the final battle yesterday while playing against John Isner with a match score as 4-6 6-4 7-6 (7-4) .
This success has stretched his match winning streak to a total of ten matches. As the match started, John Isner looked stronger to win the final however Fish after a set point got back into the game. Thereafter, the American tennis ace, Mardy Fish never looked back and went on to win the final set 3-1.
The twenty eight years old Mardy Fish after the victory said that he is feeling extremely happy after winning the Atlanta Tennis championship this season.
“Although, it was pretty tough out there as a result of heat, but even then I managed well in the end”, said Fish.
As far as his overall performance in the season 2010 is concerned, the right handed American tennis ace started off pretty well by triumphing at the SAP Open teamed up with Sam Querrey.
Both of them as a pair knocked down Benjamin Becker as well as Leonardo Mayer in the final battle and grabbed the title with the final match score as 7-6(3), 7-5. Later on during the month of March, Fish knocked down Andy Murray, his round number two opponent at the Sony Ericsson Open which was held in Miami. Two months later, the American tennis ace, once again met Andy Murray in the round number three of the Queen’s championship which was held in London. During that match, the 1.88 meters tall Mardy although succeeded in the first set 6-4, was knocked down in the second set 6-1 and during the set number three, when Mardy was ahead of Andy with 3-0, Murray levelled it to 3-3. Fish then called it a day off claiming that the light wasn’t enough.
The next day, however Mardy won the match comprehensively a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(2). He met Michael Llodra at the quarter final stage and Feliciano Lopez in the semi final round to make his way into the final. However, Fish was fallen down in the finals by Sam Querrey.
Talking about his recent performance at the grass court Grand Slam tournament, he was kicked out of the Grand Slam event in the round number two by Florian Mayer 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. However, after the grass court Grand Slam, Fish took part in the Hall of Fame Tennis tournament which was held in the city New York and grabbed his fourth trophy by knocking down the Belgian tennis ace, Olovier Rochus in a total of three sets.
Thereafter, his ATP ranking rose to the top fifty. And now with his second ATP title in the form of Atlanta Tennis championship victory, Mardy Fish is looking good to perform even better for the rest of the season.
