A flat in New York Manhattan - how much?

Hello, if I want a room in Manhattan how much will it cost? 2 bed room apartment with a flat mate - everyone gets his own room.

how much it costs usually? a deposit is nececery if I rent a flat with a roomate?

A two bedroom will cost you anywhere between $2200 to $3600 depending on how nice the place is in Manhattan.  

I suggest you take the money and rent yourself a brand new 1 bedroom condo in Queens which will cost you around $1200/month.

You can look at places in Astoria - (N, R, W trains), Jackson Heights ( E, F, G, R, V, 7 Trains)  Corona. - 7 train.  These areas are only 15 mins away from Midtown Manhattan.  Or try beautiful Forest Hills which is only 25 mins by (E or F train).

everyone has their own preferences & Manhattan is a pretty big island.  different parts, cost different prices. but still, Manhattan is very expensive. Maybe you want to be downtown where all the action is, or maybe you wanna be a little higher to be away from it sometimes.  the best website for apartments in my opinion is craigslist

An "average" 2 bedroom apartment in Manhattan would be about $2500 - $3000 a month. It won't matter how many people are on the lease, expect to pay 1st and last months rent when you are moving in.

Edit:

First and last month rent means if the apartment rents for $3000 a month you need to give the landlord $6000 when you move in. Sometimes you will also have to pay a security deposit on top of that.

Search Craigslist.

A small studio in Brooklyn Heights (the picturesque, wealthy area just below the Brooklyn Bridge) -- $1600/mo.

A small studio in East New York (one of the poorest and most crime-ridden areas of NYC, and without good subway access) -- probably half that.
