A food question for Montrealers...

Your smoked meat is wonderful.

So why is your pepperoni (with the exception of mini pepperoni sticks I bought from an artisan sausagemaker) so horrible??

There are many varieties of pepperoni in Montreal. Some places sell you something they claim to be pepperoni, but it is really a type of salami. That is terrible on pizza!!

Montreal is overflowing with delicatessans. The selection of brands and variations on the coldcuts here in Montreal never ceases to amaze me.

The thing is to find a place that makes its own sausages and pepperoni, not just the ones that buy the brands sold at Loblaws, IGA, or Maxi.

Hmm... each city has its speciality, I suppose. Did you try La Vieille Europe? Atwater Market? Jean-Talon market? Milano's?
