  1. Maybe a summer gift basket with outdoor water toys, a basket with fun game type stuff or educational workbooks etc.... craft stuff.....anything that will keep the kiddo busy doing something outdoors or using their imagination. Anything other than sitting and watching tv all summer is always a great idea.

  2. I doubt this will be a popular answer, but I'd skip the gift and just BE there. It's just the start of what I see as the continuation of a society that expects material things. We give gifts, but what really matters is time and love. If you must give a gift, I'd suggest an outing with the child and your friend to the local zoo.

  3. Gazillion Bubble Solution

    Crayola Sidewalk Paint Set

    Crayola Sidewalk Chalk Rake

    Disney Pixar Cars Bubble Machine

    Alex Color & Cuddle Pony

    Magna Doodle

Most 5 year olds love those things.

  4. webster big dictionary ,preparation for spelling bee grades school

  5. I teach elementary school and have grandkids that age as well.  Big favorites this year:

Gift card to a local dollar store, book store, toy store, favorite restaurant, etc.

If they are into swimming, get a beach towel and add a zippered pocket for change, locker key etc.

    Anything personalized

A track phone with 200 minutes to use in case of emergencies  ( we told her the 200 minutes has to last a year!)

    Flashlights

Gift certificate for a class or equipment in an area of interest... caving is big this year around here ( going into wild caves with adults), the zoo, a children's museum, art supplies.  Ceramics gift certificate for greenware and class etc.

The sites below have lots of ideas aimed at kindergarten level.

  6. my niece just graduated from kindergarden and i gave her some fresh flowers and a cheap necklace (from walmart) and she loved it.

  7. get her a visa gift card so she can by anything

  8. Kindergarteners don't really need a gift for graduation from their parents' friends. If you have to give something, just a card (not a gift card) is plenty.   You could buy her a popsicle from an ice cream truck and that would be about the right level of appropriate celebration.

I don't mean to sound like I hate kindergardeners or anything, it's just that getting through a year of school should be expected of kids, not overly rewarded with gifts.  A simple treat on the last day of school is enough.  Unless they're taught to expect stuffed animals for every little rite of passage, kids won't be expecting any sort of present from an adult friend of their parents'.

  9. I would get something for outside, that is not expensive

There are cool caulk products that are not expensive

  10. Well, they say a picture is worth a million words! So, if you know some of her hobbies or passions you could surprise her with a nice little portrait made from a photo depicting exactly what or whom she likes. This can be done at http://www.paintyourlife.com for a reasonable fee and according to your specifications! They also make wonderful photo prints on canvas in various designs. Check it out at http://www.photo-print-on-canvas.com

  11. My daughter just graduated kindergarden this year and her favorite gift was a gift card to Barnes and Noble (she loves to read).  If you know what the child enjoys, or can find out, a gift card is fun.

Other ideas, craft kits, drawing/painting kits, things to do over the summer are all fun.

  12. My daughter just graduated kindergarten, she got a hug and a smile, a pat on the back, good job honey.  They are 5 or 6!  Kids today have enough!  Take her for ice cream, or just tel her well done.

I just think that people today go overboard with gifts.  It is kindergarten.

Sorry to sound like a downer, but I would have been annoyed if anyone got my daughter for a gift.
