  1. You didn't specify a country, so I assume you mean the US.

    --Freedom of speech.

    --Freedom of worship.

    --Freedom of assembly.

--Freedom to petition the government to address issues.

--No matter where you go in the US, if you walk into a McDonald's, the food tastes exactly the same as it does at every other location.

I have lived in places where they don't have a guarantee of the first four things I listed. We tend to forget how important those things are because we live with them every day, but believe me, they are a lot bigger deal than you will ever imagine. People are imprisoned by their governments or killed outright every single day for simply expressing their opinion aloud, or worshipping as they choose. If those rights were taken away, you would notice it, and you would hate it.

    **EDIT**

The UK? Well c**p. Let me see...

    --Warm beer.

    --Lots of fried food.

    --A rich literary history.

--A Queen with a nice assortment of pastel hats.

    --The White Cliffs of Dover.

  2. There are loads of positives:

    Rich history

    Music - particularly pop music

    literature

    architecture

food - think good fish and chips in newspaper

    the seaside

    Country pubs

beautiful countryside - lake district, yorkshire dales, cotswolds, scottish lochs, higlands,

    free healthcare

There are loads of nagatives as well - but these are the things I'm proud of and would miss if I moved away from the UK.  I live in a rural village though, so I would probably think differently if I lived in a dodgy area.

  3. The constitution is a good start but how about this the United States has an excellent illegal alien program come one come all ,we dont care anymore.

  4. An American answering this question. I mean 'assuming'! not like them. And America is famous right now for illegal invasion, torturing innocent people, Guantanamo, the Kennedy's the Bush's and the Clinton's (true democracy) saying things like"Obama rhymes with Osama, so therefore . . " You don't address the positives by stating others' negatives is all   . . . . .  The UK, erm . . . well, there's the judicial system, the NHS, lack of guns (mostly), ethnic minority's' rights, the incredible history(industrial revolution), our attitude (mostly) EDIT/ADDENDUM: love your answer, oilruss - except for London being the most cosmopolitan. Are you sure? The rest was spot-on, Thanks

  5. Harry Potter

    British Sitcoms

    Cool Accents

    Free Health Care

    Extra-Sugary Candy

  6. Assuming you mean America, here’s 5 and I raise you five

    1) Freedom- it belongs to those who understand it

    2) Everyone has at least one TV

    3) You are not only entitled to your own opinion, but can express it

    4) Those who are motivated can achieve his/her dreams

    5) It’s our own choice to be happy or miserable- its perspective

    6) You can live in what ever climate you like

    7) American Idol & Dancing With the Stars

    8) I love my job and the flexible hours

    9) My home is peaceful and safe

    10) Its fun to hang out with my friends

  7. ...when you say "this Country"... are you referring to America or North Korea, Cuba, Iran or Venezuela...?  (Hint... "If" your talking about America... see how those "others" stack-up to the "Bill of Rights" in the U.S. Constitution... there's "10" quick one's to start with).

  8. You are a British subject---and you can't find five positive things about your country?

Just how long have you been sleeping through every class in school? Or, do you just take everything in your country for granted as some right that you HAVE to be given ? Disgusting.

  9. You can go to the shops and buy food.

You get free medical care if you are ill.

Children are given an education and the parents don't have to pay for it.

If a child goes missing the police will do everything they can to find him or her.

    There is excellent sanitation.

  10. 1. Chelsea Football Club 2. Stable economy 3. Education system (will give you a good standard of education if you engage with it - and it is hard to engage!) 4. NHS (the theory, not the reality due to severe under-funding) 5. Freedom of expression (i.e. you are unlikely to be killed for expressing your view). I know you didn't ask, but I think it's only fair that I give 5 negatives now! 1. The weather 2. British imperialist mentality/jingoism (some citizens - not all) 3. poor work/life balance 4. not child friendly 5. fails in its duty to protect the weakest members of society (e.g. elderly people forced to heat only one room/sell their houses to pay for NHS treatment when they have made National Insurance contributions throughout their working lives/living in fear of leaving their homes due to yobs.

  11. We all tend to get so caught up in the quagmire of negativity that we don't see the obvious

1 freedom to do,say, think and watch what you like

    2 Human rights

3 benefit - housing etc (both neg and pos)

    4 education

5 children's rights - child welfare is paramount

I am sure there are loads more and you would be able to see if you choose to step away from all that negative parts...remember everything can be arguably be good and bad.

  12. Freedom of the press, No war, Equal rights for men and women, Brilliant beaches and Beautiful scenery.

    That good?

  13. No major natural disasters like Earthquakes, Tornadoes, we get them but not on a grand scale.

People, they are still MOSTLY polite, helpful, kind, think how much we do for charities like Sports Relief, Live Aid etc.

    Incredible history and historical buildings

Films, and Television, make and contribute to many UK and particularly International top movies with technical expertise and many of the British actors knock spots off most countries

Overall Freedom of speech, and press, it may not seem so, but compare this with much of the world and we are still up there.

No civil wars in the UK for hundreds of years.

    Music, diverse and world leading

Theatre, the best in the world, diversity in every aspect.

Armed Forces, best trained soldiers, though let down by current government

Being British, its something still to be proud of, no matter what one hears, it's time people stood up for that fact.

  14. 1) Its past: We are the country of Nelson, Drake, Wellington, Montgomery, Churchill etc. When the chips have been down, Britain has protected herself and her friends.

    2) Its arts: We are the country of Shakespeare, Dickens, the Beatles, Harry Potter. In so many ways we have led the world in culture and popular culture.

    3) Its countryside: Britain has some beautiful landscapes from the Scottish highlands to the Lake District to the Welsh Valleys.

    4) London: The worlds most cosmopolitan city, leader in the world of finance, steeped in history and architechture.

    5) Its Innovation: From Faraday to Fleming, Watson and Crick, Oxford and Cambridge..a wonderful record in inventions and research.

There are many negatives, and it is easy to be cynical.

  15. paying tax and dying.!

  16. sorry could find only two: strong currency & good system (some of them)
