If he were to send a personal check made out to me, would my major bank cash it just as it would any other check?

And likewise, if I were to send a check to him would his bank cash my check?

Is there just a waiting period or is other factors involved like currency rates.

What is the best way to send a small amount between the countries? I would rather not have to use paypal

  1. If you know you're going to buy something at a store or whatever that is in both your towns, have him buy a gift card that works in both nations.

  2. A money order can be bought at either a bank or the post office.  There should be no problem cashing this in the US.  I've used them to make purchases in the US in the past and there has never been any problem with having them cashed in the US.

  3. money order? or paypal...

  4. Well there will be some sort of fee for sending the check, usually about $5.
