A friend in power is a friend lost?

Just an educated guess here, but I'm thinking if your friend at work gets a promotion and becomes your boss, he/she cannot be your friend any more. He is now obligated to maintain a professional distance. Relationships are best between persons of equal status.

theres no hidden meaning....power corrupts. No matter how good a friend he was, its over. power will just change a person.
