  1. Here is a comprehensive answer:

The PS3 plays BluRay and DVD.

PS3 Games don't have region codes, so you'll be able to play any ps3 game bought anywhere on the planet.

PS2 games and DVD movies are region coded. Since your PS3 will be from hong kong (region 3), you can't play european dvds (region 2).

BluRay Movies have 3 regions only (unlike DVD, where there are 6). So you wont be able to play those either.

So to sum it up, you can play PS3 games alone and nothing else.

  2. Not positive but i think it will probably NT SC instead of pal but with some of the newer machines now I'm not sure it really matters.

  3. First of all you'll need an HDTV. Hong Kong consoles are made to display in NTSC-J. European consoles are made to display in PAL. If you have a standard definition TV this will be a problem (unless your TV displays both signals).

PS3 games from Europe will work on his console, but everything else won't. DVD's, PS2/PS1 games, and most bluray movies are region locked and won't work at all.

You will most likely need a power converter for the plug to fit, but I'm not sure.

  4. The plug might need an adaptor. But as far as i know games arent region coded. You may just have to wait and see.
