  1. He needs to go through immigration.

  2. Where is he  flying  from?

Brazil...he will go  trough Immigration in the US and  then catch a pre clerance flight to Puerto Rico..(domestic).

If he's already in the US....that's  a  domestic  fligth  so he will have to show  his documents to the airline...if  he is a Legal Resident of the US,  all he needs is his  ARC Card (green card) and another valid ID.

If  he's a Visitor he will need his  Brazilian passport with a US b2 visa (tourist).

  3. If he is flying from the US to PR no.  If he's flying direct from Brazil non stop to PR then yes, he will go thru immigration at the first US airport he lands.  If he's papers are in order he should not have a problem leaving.

  4. He will go through US Inmigration.  If he has the passport and every document in order he should not have any problem.  the procedures are the same as in any other international airport through the USA.
