A friend of mine wants to join yahoo for her email address. how does she do it and how much does it cost?

It does not cost anything to be a Yahoo member.  Membership automatically comes with a Yahoo address and member can have up to five Yahoo free email addresses.  

The free Yahoo web-based email cannot be downloaded to member's computer email program.  Yahoo does have a POP3 type email service where the member can send and receive email within their computer's email program. Go to http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ for more information on what the service provides and to subscribe for the service.  Right now, it's $19.99 per year.

Yahoo e-mail (web-based) is free. All she has to do is log on and sign up for a Yahoo e-mail ID. A short survey is all it takes. For $20.00/year, she can also have POP-3 (client) access, and go ad-free.

Yahoo is free to many however it is also an ISP provider that would come with e-mail. I have no idea the cost of it but many of my members in CA are paying users.
