  1. I can't comment about the TV series; but the film Champion about a jockey and a written-off horse winning a major race (possibly the Grand Natiional) after the jockey recovers from cancer, this is true. The jockey may even have been called Bob Champion.

  2. i saw this series the first time around - yeah i'm that old.

the first one is when they crash land and are taken by this super race to somewhere like shangri - la. they are given super human powers.

its all sixties stuff, and no its not based on a true story.

think your friend been had somewhere along the line!

    enjoy your £50

    not true.

  3. The Champions was a series about two chaps and a rather elegant lady;  during a mission, their plane crashes in the Himalayas. They are rescued by an advanced civilization living secretly in the mountains, who save their lives, granting them superhuman abilities. Now, until there is some abstract metaphor going on that is analogous in some way I would say it is completely ridiculous to suggest that it is based on a true story.
