  2. This is just too much fun, designed to demonstrate the unlikely.

    If we put plants of the same size in containers where we can expose them to  uniform lumens of different wavelengths of light we will see the plants grow to various heights.

    The last container  is exposed to full sunlight. The sunlight has about 10 times as many lumens as any of the other containers.

    All the containers have an adequate supply of moisture and plant nutrient.

    Now, the objective is to have people first guess which plant grows the highest, then to explain why their guesses were so far off.

    Typically plants grow taller when they are light- deprived, and grow more compactly in full sunlight.

  5. Not knowing the age group your working with, a great award winning project I used to tutor a student was an aquaponic unit that raised goldfish to make nutrient water to grow produce. It mimics exactly the large production facilities seen frequently today and uses common items that are free are cheap and easy to find. Send an email for more info.
