A general DVD question?

If I were to purchase DVDs off Amazon.com, would they work over in the UK? I know it's a silly question, but i'm thinking of re-buying my family guy seasons as some of the episodes played on TV aren't included on the versions i've got (i have the whole seasons 1-6)

Thanks for your help, no silly answers please

  1. If ou have a multi region DVD player they will if not they wont as UK works on Region 2 DVDs and American have Region 1

  2. Hi there,

The region would be different...so on most DVD players they would not work.

    You have 2 options:

You can use your iMac/Pc to watch them, they will work on there

OR you buy a "region free" DVD player, (you can have your current DVD player converted, you will have to do a search on it...)

    HOPE this helps!

  3. You have to check the DVDs region code.  If it is a 0, this means it will be region free and can be played on any region DVD player, this included UK DVD player, which is region 2 code. If it is not 0 and other than region 2 code, unless your DVD player is region free, which have been modified to play all region DVDs(which I am unsure whether it is legal or not), the player will only recognise the region code it was set, a UK DVD player will only recognise region 2 code as mentioned.

Alternatively, I have heard of a software that can bypass the region code but again not sure whether it is legal or not.

  4. yer they work.  dont forget people in the uk can also buy off amazon.

  5. Probably not.  U.S. dvd's are region 1.  UK are region 2.

  6. I have bought DVDs from the U.S.A., Hong Kong, Japan, Brazil, China, Australia and Russia. They all play fine.

I do have a Region free DVD player, though.
